Peppermint essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stems of the Mentha piperita plant. Peppermint is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion. Peppermint oil is most commonly used as an anti-inflammatory and pain reducer when applied topically to sore muscles and joints.

The aroma from peppermint oil is used to increase alertness and suppress appetite. Peppermint oil is also used to treat headaches, nausea, and skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Peppermint oil blends well with many essential oils such as rosemary, frankincense, and lavender.
